Our Mission
Advancing AI for national security, public sector adoption, and STEM education
Stellar Nexus Institute is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to advance the research, development, and practical application of artificial intelligence in service of the public interest. We exist to close a widening gap: the most capable AI tools are concentrated in a small number of well-funded organizations, while the military staffs, rural governments, school districts, and small nonprofits that could benefit most are left without the infrastructure, expertise, or budget to adopt them.
We were founded in 2026 on a simple conviction — that AI capability should not be a luxury reserved for those who can afford it. National security, public safety, and educational opportunity are public goods, and the technology that strengthens them should reach the people who serve those missions, not just the organizations with the largest budgets.
Our work spans three interconnected pillars. First, we advance human-AI teaming for military survivability, building operational tools that perform reliably where failure carries real consequence. Second, we help public-sector organizations adopt AI where personnel ceilings and legacy systems make that adoption hardest. Third, we build the next generation of AI-literate professionals through hands-on education and research opportunity.
The institute treats its operational platform as research infrastructure as well. Every system we deploy is designed to generate generalizable findings — durable orchestration patterns, failure-mode taxonomies, and reliability engineering approaches — that we publish for the broader human-AI teaming research community. We are not simply a software shop; we are a research organization that ships.

Stellar Nexus Institute is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity incorporated in the State of Wyoming, with operations based in Dothan, Alabama. As a tax-exempt organization, we are governed by a board of directors and operate under the charitable-purpose standards of the Internal Revenue Code. Our federal Employer Identification Number is 42-2841879, and our Unique Entity Identifier for federal contracting and grants is K587XAZZN9N1.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, the institute is required to devote a meaningful share of its annual income to charitable activities and programs rather than to private benefit or accumulation. We maintain transparent financial practices, track restricted and unrestricted funds separately, and make our governing documents available to funders and partners on request.
We publish research findings, disclose our use of artificial intelligence in our own operations, and hold ourselves to the same reliability and transparency standards we build into our products. Nonprofit status is not a marketing line for us — it is an obligation that shapes how we price, partner, and prioritize.
